MAYOR DWYER STATED IT IS MARCH 16TH AND EFFECTIVE TODAY WE ARE DEALING WITH THE PANDEMIC CORONOVIRUS.  THIS IS NOT ONLY IMPACTING OUR COMMUNITY BUT THE COUNTY THE STATE THE COUNTRY AND THE WORLD.   EVERY DAY ORANGE COUNTY DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT UPDATES VILLAGE OFFICIALS AND GIVES US THE STATUS.  THERE HAVE NOW BEEN ELEVEN CONFIRMED CASES IN ORANGE COUNTY.  A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE WAITING ON TEST RESULTS, SO I EXPECT THE NUMBER WILL GROW TO THE HUNDREDS WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS.  IT WILL MAKE ITS WAY TO GREENWOOD LAKE EVENTUALLY AND THROUGHT THE COUNTY.  IT IS UP TO US TO SLOW ITS PATH.  THE SYMPTOMS OF CORONAVIRUS ARE FEVER, COUGH, SORE THROAT, AND DIFFICULTY BREATHING.   THEY WANT YOU TO CALL YOUR DOCTOR FIRST IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS. DO NOT GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM UNLESS IT IS AN EMERGENCY.  IF YOU DO CALL 911 MAKE SURE YOU ARE CLEAR WITH THE DETAIL OF YOUR SYMPTOMS.  WE DON’T WANT THE FIRST RESPONDERS TO BE TAKEN OUT OF DUTY BECAUSE THEY HAVE COME INTO CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WITH THE VIRUS.  THEY ARE REQUIRED TO GO INTO IMMEDIATE QUARANTINE IF THAT HAPPENS AND THEY CANNOT WORK.  SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED UNTIL AT LEAST THE MIDDLE OF APRIL.  BARS AND RESTAURANTS EFFECTIVE AT 8:00PM TONIGHT ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO BE OPEN FOR TAKEOUT.   IF YOU CAN PLEASE SUPPORT OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES.  FOR MANY OF THEM THIS COULD BE DEVASTATING TO THEIR ABILITY TO SURVIVE.   THIS COULD GO ON FOR MONTHS.  LOCALLY, WE HAVE CLOSED THE SENIOR CENTER.  WEVE CLOSED THE PRETEEN CENTER AND THE TEEN CENTER.  WE ARE NOT ALLOWING ANY PUBLIC MEETINGS TO TAKE PLACE.  EFFECTIVE TOMORROW, VILLAGE HALL AND THE COURT WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.  OUR STAFF WILL BE THERE TO ANSWER YOUR CONCERNS VIA PHONE OR EMAIL.  YOU CAN CALL VILLAGE HALL AT 477-9215.  THE POLICE DISPATCHER OFFICE WILL BE OPEN AND WILL BE THE AREA THAT YOU CAN DROP OFF BUILDING PERMITS, WATER BILLS, PAYMENTS OR CORRESPONDANCE, TICKETS, ETC.  ALL NECESSARY FORMS, SUCH AS BUILDING PERMITS, ETC WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE VILLAGE’S WEBSITE WHICH IS VILLAGEOFGREENWOODLAKE.ORG.  THIS WILL BE AN EVOLVING PROCESS AND WE WILL UPDATE YOU ON THE VILLAGE WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK PAGE. 

 

MAYOR DWYER CONTINUED WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS WE SHOULD GET A BETTER HANDLE ON EVERYTHING.  IT WILL GET WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER.  WE ARE GOING TO HAVE JUST A QUICK MEETING TONIGHT. 

 

MAYOR DWYER STATED ALL VILLAGE ELECTIONS SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY MARCH 18TH HAVE BEEN POSTPONED TO APRIL 28TH AS OF RIGHT NOW.

MAYOR DWYER STATED WATER BILLS ARE DUE AND CAN BE PAID VIA ONLINE, MAIL OR DROP OFF AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. 

 

BUDGET – WE HAD A BUDGET WORKSHOP EARLIER AND ARE IN THE PROCESS OF GOING THROUGH IT.  WE WILL HAVE A PUBLIC HEARING ON APRIL 20TH SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

 

RESIDENT WATER BILL – WE HAVE ONE RESIDENT THAT HAD A LEAK AND HAS FIXED IT SO WE WILL WAIVE HALF OF THEIR USAGE FEE.

AUTHORIZES MAYOR DWYER TO ACCEPT AND EXECUTE THE CONTRACT WITH ORANGE COUNTY FOR THE STOP DWI TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM BEGINNING MARCH 13, 2020 AND ENDING ON JANUARY 1, 2021.

RESOLUTION #41 OF 2019/2020

 

VILLAGE OF GREENWOOD LAKE

GOVERNING BODY FAIR HOUSING RESOLUTION

The Village of Greenwood Lake supports Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 (Federal Fair Housing Law) and the New York State Human Rights Law.  It is the policy of the Village of Greenwood Lake to implement programs to ensure equal opportunity in housing for all person regardless of race, color, religion, ancestry, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, nationality, familial status, marital or domestic partnership status, affectional or sexual orientation, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, genetic information, liability for military service, mental or physical disability, perceived disability, AIDS/HIV status and Lawful Income or Source of Lawful Rent Payment (Section 8).  The Village of Greenwood Lake further objects to discrimination in the sale, rental, leasing, financing of housing or lands to be used for construction of housing, or in the provision of brokerage services because of race, color, religion, ancestry, sex, national origin, handicap or disability as prohibited by Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 (Federal Fair Housing Law) and the New York State Human Rights Law.  Therefore, the Municipal Council of the Village of Greenwood Lake do hereby approve the following resolution.

BE IT RESOLVED, that within available resources, the Village of Greenwood Lake will assist all persons who feel they have been discriminated against under one of the aforementioned categories, to seek equity under federal and state laws by filing a complaint with the New York State Human Rights Law and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, as appropriate.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Village of Greenwood Lake shall publicize this resolution and through this publicity shall cause owners of real estate, developers, and builders to become aware of their respective responsibilities and rights under the Federal Fair Housing Law, the New York State Human Rights Law, and any local laws or ordinances.

BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, that the municipality will at a minimum include, but not limited to: (1) the printing and publicizing of this resolution, a fair housing public notice and other applicable fair housing information through local media, community contacts and placement on the Municipal website and in other social media; (2) distribution of posters, flyers, and any other means which will bring to the attention of those affected, the knowledge of their respective responsibilities and rights concerning equal opportunity in housing.

RESOLUTION # 42 OF 2019/2020

AUTHORIZES THE REDUCTION OF WATER FEE CHARGES ON ACCOUNT NUMBER 30729 TO HALF THE AMOUNT TO $318.59.

MOTION TO ADJOURN THE MARCH 16TH VILLAGE BOARD MEETING.  THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE APRIL 20TH, 2020 AT 7:30PM, PRECEEDED BY A WORKSHOP AT 6:30 PM.
