MAYOR DWYER – WE GOT THE LETTER FOR THE APPROVAL OF THE BULLETPROOF VEST GRANT?
CHIEF HANSEN – YES. WE ARE WORKING ON THAT, IT IS A CONTINUOUS PROCESS.
WATER REPORTED BY PHIL LANDRU
SEPTEMBER WAS A PRETTY QUIET MONTH. ASIDE FROM OUR MONTHLY, WEEKLY AND DAILY SAMPLING AND TESTING THINGS HAVE BEEN RELATIVELY UNEVENTFUL. WE ARE CURRENTLY RUNNING ON TWO FILTERS IN TANDEM AND WE’VE ACTUALLY BEN ABLE TO THROTTLE OUR WELLS BACK A LITTLE AND STILL MEET OUR USAGE DEMANDS WITHOUT A PROBLEM. WE’VE HAD A FEW METER CALLS TO RESOLVE SOME RESIDENT BILLING ISSUES. WE RELACED A FAULTY LITTLE SUBMERSIBLE PUMP THAT WAS CAUSING SOME ELEVATED TURBIDITY ISSUES FROM ONE OF THE FILTER BEDS AT THE PLANT. WE WILL BE MAINTAINING SUMMER WATER SERVICE FOR AS LONG AS WEATHER PERMITS. AS FAR AS THE WELL GOES, WE NEED 30 DAYS OF WEATHER WITH LESS THAN 7 INCHES OF WATER AND THAT JUST HASN’T BEEN HAPPENING.
MAYOR DWYER WE DID APPLY FOR A WAIVER THAT MAY EVENTUALLY LET US BY PASS THAT. THAT IS BASICALLY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE NO OTHER WELLS IN THE AREA THAT YOU ARE GOING TO DRAW FROM. IN ACTUALITY, THERE ARE NO OTHER WELLS IN THE AREA, PERIOD.
DEPUTY MAYOR KELM REPORT – THE GREENWOOD LAKE FOOD PANTRY IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR FOOD BASKETS FOR THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS. ANYONE THAT RESIDES IN THE GREENWOOD LAKE SCHOOL DISTRICT IS ELIGIBLE. PLEASE COME TO THE FOOD PANTRY ON SATURDAY MORNINGS BETWEEN 9:00 AND 12:00 TO REGISTER. THE DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 3RD.
THE SENIOR CENTER HAS BEEN SUPER BUSY ALL SUMMER, GOING ON A LOT OF TRIPS. THEY ARE BUSY PLANNING ANOTHER BEFORE THE WEATHER GETS BAD. IF YOU HAVE ELDERLY NEIGHBORS, PLEASE CHECK ON THEM AS THE WEATHER GETS COLDER TO SEE IF THEY NEED ANY HELP.
TRUSTEE SELLIER REPORT – FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT BROUGHT IN $7417.00 HIGHLIGHTED BY 56 SEPTIC LETTERS, 25 CO’S ISSUED.
FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER, THE PLANNING BOARD MET WITH A SINGLE APPLICANT, SKYLAR FARMS. THEY SUBMITTED PLANS AND THEY WERE APPROVED. THE ZBA ALSO HAD A SINGLE APPLICANT THAT WAS REFERRED FROM THE PLANNING BOARD.
MAYOR DWYER – IS THERE A ZBA MEETING THIS WEEK?
TRUSTEE SELLIER – NO THERE IS NO APPLICANT
ATTORNEY BUCKHEIT REPORT – THE ENTIRETY OF MY REPORT IS CONFIDENTIAL IN NATURE THIS MONTH, I CONTINUE TO WORK FOR THE VILLAGE, IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES PLEASE BRING IT TO OUR ATTENTION AND WE WILL WORK TO RESOLVE THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
VILLAGE CLERK REPORT BY PATRICIA OLSEN
THIS IS THE LAST MONTH TO PAY YOUR VILLAGE TAX. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR NEED A COPY OF YOUR BILL, PLEASE CALL US OR STOP BY VILLAGE HALL. IF NOT PAID BY OCTOBER 31ST, IT IS RELEVIED TO THE COUNTY ON NOVEMBER 1ST. WATER BILLS ARE DUE TOMORROW, THERE IS A 10% PENALTY AFTER THAT. LEAF AND BRUSH PICK UP CONTINUES ON MONDAYS OR THURSDAYS DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU LIVE UNTIL DECEMBER 1ST OR THE FIRST BIG SNOWFALL. I ALSO WANTED TO MENTION TO THE BOARD THAT WE ARE FINALLY GOING TO BE GETTING THE NEW GASOLINE SYSTEM INSTALLED NEXT WEEK. THE SOFTWARE HAS BEEN INSTALLED ALREADY, AND THERE WILL BE NEW KEY FOBS, AND BETTER REPORTING.
OLD BUSINESS
NEW MUNICIPAL WELL – THE MAIN HURDLE RIGHT NOW IS THE DEC TESTING REQUIREMENTS WHICH CALL FOR SO MANY DAYS WITHOUT RAIN. SOON ENOUGH WE WILL BE DEALING WITH SNOW AS WELL, SO HOPEFULLY WE CAN GET THIS REQUIREMENT WAIVED. WE WILL KEEP EVERYONE INFORMED.
FIREHOUSE/ COMMUNITY CENTER – THE TEEN CENTER OPENED TWO WEEKS AGO. WE ARE GOING TO WALK OVER THERE AFTER THIS MEETING, IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO JOIN US AND CHECK IT OUT. AS YOU CAN SEE WE PUT A FENCE UP ON WATERSTONE ROAD IN THE FRONT TO INSURE THE SAFETY OF THE KIDS. IT IS SLIGHTLY UNSIGHTLY BUT NECESSARY. WE ARE ALSO INSTALLING A BASKETBALL HOOP NEX TO THE BUILDING WHICH IS BEING DONE BY TONY ROMANISH AND HE IS DONATING ALL OF THE MATERIAL EXCEPT THE ACTUAL BASKETBALL HOOP AS WELL AS HIS TIME.
MOUNTAIN LAKES SIDEWALK – WE JUST HAD THE BID OPENING FOR THIS PROJECT LAST WEEK. IT IS BEING DONE WITH A GRANT FROM SENATOR BONACIC AND COVER A SIDEWALK ADJACENT TO THE SIDEWALK IN FRONT OF THE NEW FIREHOUSE ON MOUNTAIN LAKES LANE AND EXTENDS UP TO BLACK BEAR WINE AND SPIRITS. BY NEXT SPRING THERE WILL BE SIDEWALK CONTINUOUS TO WINDERMERE AVE.
NEW BUSINESS
BUILDING INSPECTOR POSITION – MAYOR DWYER STATED FOR TWO YEARS WE HAVE BEEN USING LARRY PHIPPS AS OUR BUILDING INSPECTOR. HE WAS AN EMPLOYEE OF FUSCO ENGINEERING AND WAS IMPRESSIVE AND DOING A FANTASTIC JOB. HE HAS CHOSEN ANOTHER CAREER PATH AND MOVED ON. WE ARE GOING TO BE MOVING FORWARD WITH HIRING OUR OWN BUIDING INSPECTOR WHO WILL BE EMPLOYED BY THE VILLAGE. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND HOURS WOULD BE A MINIMUM OF 30 AND A MAXIMUM OF 40. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE CERTIFIED BUT DO NEED CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE, CONTRACTING, OR ENGINEERING BACKGROUND. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A RESIDENT OF THE VILLAGE OR OF THE TOWN. YOU DO NEED TO BE ABLE TO SHOW UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IF THERE IS A STRUCTURE FIRE. WE NEED YOU TO APPLY AT VILLAGE HALL. YOU CAN ALSO SEND AN EMAIL TO MAYOR@VILLAGEOFGREENWOODLAKE.ORG OR TO VCMGWL@YAHOO.COM. WE ARE GOING TO TAKE OUR TIME AND WILL TRAIN THEM AND SEND THEM TO SCHOOL IF NECESSARY. WE HAVE ADVERTISED IN THE PAPER. WE DO HAVE A TEMPORARY BUILDING INSPECTOR IN THE MEAN TIME.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT FEES AND PERMITS – TRUSTEE KELM MADE A POINT AT THE LAST BOARD MEETING THAT CERTAIN BUILDING PERMITS REQUIRE MORE TIME THAN OTHERS. IF YOU ARE DOING THE JOB YOURSELF, SIX MONTHS IS NOT A LOT OF TIME. THE BOARD AGREES AND ALL THE SURROUNDING AREAS HAVE A ONE YEAR TERM FOR BUILDING PERMITS. WE ARE GOING TO WAIT FOR A FULL BOARD TO DECIDE IF WE WANT TO CHANGE THE CODE TO REFLECT THE ONE YEAR. THE OTHER THING IS MINOR REPAIRS, SUCH AS REPLACING A WINDOW, OR A DOOR, ETC. RIGHT NOW, REQUIRES THE SAME BUILDING PERMIT FEES, WHICH IS A MINIMUM OF$106.00. WE ARE CONSIDERING A LESSER FEE FOR REPAIRS OR RENOVATIONS FOR PROJECTS UNDER $1000.00. IF ANYONE HAS ANY COMMENTS ON THAT PLEASE LET US KNOW.

FIRE DEPARTMENT SNOW REMOVAL – I HAD A QUICK MEETING WITH SOME OF THE FIRE COMMISSIONERS REGARDING SNOW REMOVAL AT THE NEW FIREHOUSE. THEY ARE LOOKING FOR SHARED SERVICES. WE ALREADY REMOVE SNOW THROUGHOUT THE VILLAGE, NOT ONLY ON STREETS BUT IN VILLAGE OWNED PARKING LOTS, COMMUTER LOT, ETC. WE ARE GOING TO MEET WITH THEM TO CONSIDER THAT OPTION.
WATER BILL ISSUES – THE VILLAGE METER READING SOFTWARE HAS MADE IT EASIER TO IDENTIFY WATER LEAKS AND WE NOTIFY RESIDENTS THAT HAVE UNUSUAL READINGS. RATHER THAN MAKING A HOMEOWNER PAY THE EXHORBITANT BILL AFTER A LEAK, WE HAVE CUT THE WATER FEE IN HALF FOR THOSE WITH LEAKS THAT HAVE GOTTEN THEM FIXED. WE HAVE FOUR LETTERS CONCERNING LEAKS THAT WERE FIXED.
