MAYOR DWYER STATED TRUSTEE HOLDER COULDN’T BE HERE TONIGHT, BUT I WANT TO CONGRATULATE HER AND EVERYONE ELSE INVOLVED IN THE HALLOWEEN FESTIVITIES THIS PAST WEEKEND. COUNTLESS GROUPS AND PEOPLE VOLUNTEERED FOR THIS PROJECT. I HEARD THEY SOLD 990 PLUS TICKETS. IT WAS AN INCREDIBLE DAY. IT WAS A YEAR LONG PROCESS PREPARING FOR THIS EVENT AND I JUST WANTED TO SAY JOB WELL DONE.
CORRESPONDENCE
MAYOR DWYER STATED WE RECEIVED TWO LETTERS.
LETTER FROM STATE COMPTROLLERS OFFICE REGARDING OUR AIM FUNDING. THEY ARE BASICALLY SHIFTING THE WAY WE GET MONEY, THE COUNTY WILL NOW BE GIVING IT TO US BY DEDUCTING IT FROM SALES TAX REVENUE.
LETTER REGARDING ORANGE COUNTY RECYCLING ISSUES. THEY MAY CONSIDER GOING TO A DUAL STREAM RECYCLING AGAIN. WE HAVE SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING RIGHT NOW.
VISITING ELECTED OFFICIALS
COUNCILMAN FLOYD DEANGELO – I HAVE NOTHING TO REPORT TONIGHT.
DPW REPORTED BY DEPUTY COMMISSIONER BILL ROE.
WE REPLACED FIVE CATCH BASINS THIS MONTH. INSTALLED ABOUT 200 FEET OF CULVERT PIPE, REPAIRED 2 CURB BOXES, REPAIRED 1 LARGE WATER LINE BREAK. ALL THE PLOWS HAVE BEEN INSPECTED AND ARE READY TO GO.
MAYOR DWYER STATED YOU AND PHIL REPAIRED A LARGE WATER LINE BREAK LAST WEEK, AND I JUST WANT TO SAY GOOD JOB. WE LOST A TON OF WATER BEFORE THE REPAIR.
WATER REPORTED BY PHIL LANDRU
ITS BEEN BUSINESS AS USUAL AS FAR AS SAMPLING, TESTING AND REPORTNG GOES. OTHER THAN A FEW SERVICE REPAIRS AND METER CALLS, THINGS HAVE BEEN PRETTY QUIET.
AT SOME POINT ON MONDAY OUR STORAGE TANK BEGAN DROPPING RAPIDLY, I INFORMED THE MAYOR OF THE SITUATION FIRST THING TUESDAY MORNING AND BEGAN CONCERTED EFFORTS TO BOTH SUPPLEMENT OUR CURRENT PRODUCTION IN THE EVENT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCATE OUR LEAK. WE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAV OUR LEAK DTECTION GUY HERE BY EARLY AFTERNOON. AND FOUND OUR LEAK IN A FAIRLY SHORT TIME. THE ROAD DEPARTMENT QUICKLY MOBILIZED WITH A CREW TO GET AN 8 INCH WATER MAIN EXPOSED THAT RUNS THROUGH THE WOODS AND WETLANDS IN VICTORY ACRES. BY 8:00PM THE LEAK WAS REPAIRED AND WE WERE ABLE TO BEGIN PRODCUING MORE WATER THAN WE WERE LOSING. THE STORAGE TANK WENT AS LOW AS 23 FEET WHICH IS LOWER THAN IVE EVEN SEEN IT IN MY 15 YEARS WITH THE VILLAGE. WE ARE NOW AT JUST OVER 33 FEET AND MAKING UP SLOWLY TO OUR CAPACITY OF 37 FEET. WE RAN INTO A PROBLEM IN TRYING TO SHUT DOWN THE MAIN. ALL THE SURROUNDING FEEDS WERE SHUT DOWN BUT WE COULDN’T ISOLATE ALL OF THEM, SO I HAD TO OPEN TWO HYDRANTS TO KEEP THE PRESSURE AWAY FROM THE LEAK SO IT COULD BE REPAIRED.
OUR ANNUAL INSPECTION WAS DONE ON THE 3RD OF THIS MONTH AND WE ARE WAITING ON THE REPORT FROM THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT. WE WILL BE LEAVING SUMMER WATER ON AS WEATHER PERMITS. AS SOON AS WE START SEEING TEMPS IN THE LOW 20S WE WILL BE SHUTTING IT DOWN AND WINTERIZING IT.
